Post by ianraba » 2011-03-31 09:35

Hi
Finally upgraded and DW8 and most extensions installed without issue but with MXCSSMenus2-2_1_1.mxp i get a strange message stopping installation telling me that the getting started book.chm is open, and close DW8 but nothing is open or being used?

ANy ideas?

I had the same problem with Vista and finally figured it out. Maybe it will also work on Windows 7.
Here's what you can try:

1. Locate the extension manager.exe (eg C:\Programs\Macromedia\Extension Manager) and right click on it.
2. Select Properties/Compatibility tab and checkmark Run this program in compatibility mode of" and select/leave it at Windows XP (Service Pack 2)
3. Under Privilege checkmark "Run this program as an administrator"

I did the same thing with dreamweaver.exe, but maybe it's not necessary.

Well I did bite the bullet and went out and bought myself a notebook with windows 7, 64Bit installed,

Dreamweaver and the extensions works just fine.
I had a "problem" (yes in inverted commas and itilics), that was not really a problem.
The extension manager seems to be hanging when installing an extension, windows reports the application as unresponsive. If you let it run the full installation process it becomes responsive again.

For good measure I am running the extansion manages in compatibility mode for Windows XP.
